The maile lei is a very important part of the culture here in Hawaii.  Typically worn by males, it is given at any special occasion and is the lei of the royalty.  It is slightly fragrant and is picked in the mountains of the Big Island.  Nowadays, the maile lei is given to both males and females, especially for graduation.  It makes for a beautiful green leafy background for all the other colorful leis. 
 

When shipping maile outside of Hawaii, the cost is $39.95.  We have to clean each leaf front and back to ensure it passes through agriculture inspection.
